Nursery Rhymes

For our opening sequence we wanted to use nursery rhymes instead of usually creepy music, here is the list of rhymes we thought would be good to use for our sequence. In the end we decided to use 'Ring a Ring a Roses' as our rhyme because when sang in a slower tune it gives our scenes a more chilling and eerie atmosphere.
  • Row Row Row Your Boat
  • Ring a Ring a Roses
  • Humpty Dumpty
  • 3 Blind Mice
  • Jack and Jill
  • Little Miss Muffet
  • Hickory Dickory Dock
  • Mary had a Little Lamb

Film Titles

We wanted our title to not give too much away of our storyline but for it to still make sense while also giving it a chilling title so the audience know it's a thriller opening, these are some of our ideas.

  • Waking the Demon
  • My Dark Place Alone
  • As Daylight Dies
  • Bittersweet Memories
In the end we chose 'Waking The Demon' as we thought it added the tension we needed.

Progess on Thriller opening

The filming is coming along really well, we are trying to leave ourselves enough time so we have plenty of time to go back and edit also if needed enough time to re-shoot if it turns out some of our shots don't work.
We should only need one more time of filming then our group should have all the shoots needed to create an impressive opening. So far it's going well although we might need to re-film some shots to get a better camera angle which should help create a more eerie atmosphere which is type my group is after.
We've already decided what will need changing in the editing process for example our flashbacks are definitely going to be in black and white so the audience can tell apart the flashbacks from what is meant to be the reality.

Location Shots Of The Park

We choose the park as we thought it gave our opening the right mood for the plot of our story. We decided to use a playground because the killer is in fact only a small child also when the swings move by themselves etc it creates a creepier atmosphere. Also we had to find a place that was isolated that was quite a challenge as we we're in a public park but we found a nice quiet place for our 'burial' scene.

Location Shots For Flashback Scenes

Here are some of the shots we used for the flashback scenes, we used these house scenes to give our story some background plot which allows the audience to understand our thriller opening to a better extent.

This is the outside of the house we used, i included this picture so there is a greater understanding of location we were using at that time.

This is the room we used for one of the most important scenes as it was the killing scene and this picture shows the layout of the room.
These stairs were used as they curve up and around which adds the tension we need to create an intense atmosphere as the audience wont be able to see what is happening around the corner because of the bend in the stairs.
